Art Therapy
As a trained and certified psychologist and art therapist, I specialize in art therapy workshops for companies, schools, universities, and other organizations/institutions – in Bogotá or online.
Moreover, I’m passionate about combining art therapy and participatory design for community engagement in social innovation projects.
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a powerful and innovative approach that combines creative expression with the therapeutic process to foster happiness, mental health, and personal development.
Art therapy goes beyond the immediate benefits of relaxation and joy that often come with art making. Through art, we can express feelings that are hard to articulate with words. Our artworks often reveal a deeper knowledge that may be difficult to access for our conscious mind; insights may arrive faster than with purely verbal psychotherapy. Moreover, changing the artwork offers a way to practice behavioral change in a safe space, with the therapist acting as a facilitator.
Art therapy is also a fantastic tool for groups and teams. It allows them to discover more effective forms of communication and collaboration, helps address and resolve tensions in a non-aggressive manner, and much more.
You do not need to have any special artistic talent to benefit from art therapy. Often, the most spontaneous and childlike expressions are the most powerful.

Combining Art Therapy, Participatory Design and Life-Centered Design for Sustainable Social Innovation
Combining participatory design, life-centered (or planet-centered) design, and community art therapy can significantly enhance social innovation initiatives.
Art therapy provides a safe space for people to express their emotions and experiences through art, fostering connection, collective healing, and resilience. Participatory design actively involves community members in the decision-making and design process, ensuring that their voices, creativity, and experiences shape the projects that impact their lives.
By incorporating principles of life-centered and planet-centered design, these initiatives can focus on systemic and holistic solutions that consider both ecological and social impacts, ensuring that the projects benefit both communities and the environment.
